The recent City Council meeting on March 17, 2025, addressed changes to a zoning ordinance amending various sections within Articles II-VII and Article XI of Chapter 24, Planning and Zoning, of the City Code for the purpose of implementing changes in the recent Council-approved Comprehensive Plan. Focus of the Council’s discussion was the possiblity of 10 ft and 12 ft tall fences in certain areas. Councilmember Gordon mentioned that police and fire departments do not favor tall fences.The question is how home owners would feel about a 12 foot fence along any side of their lot. It then moved on to a suggested definition of who can legally reside in a community home.
Possible expansion of lot coverage for religious and school structures in residential areas. Suggestions were to leave current lot coverage as is and use SUPs – Speciic Use Permits – to expand lot coverage. Find the entire Council meeting here. Stay tuned, there’s more to come.
