UPDATE 5/8/2024: By a vote of 5 to 2 City Council approved another $115,000 for the Holly Street Trail. As of April 26, 2024, the total spent on this trail is $306,583, including thousands of dollars on jasmine ground cover. Now another $115,000 was approved by 5 members of Council. Unitl 2014 this area was simply used as a walking trail.
Council also approved the $214,000 solar panel proposal for City Hall on a 6 to 1 vote. The tree ordinance passed by a vote of 5 to 1 with one member absent. The proposal to address some changes in the Comprehensive Plan regarding multi-family was postponed. The meeting lasted 6 hours and ended at midnight. Here’s the video.

After opening ceremonies at 6 PM there will be a Workshop, Public Finance 101: Presentation on Public Finance 101 as it relates to Council’s FY 2025-2027 Adopted Strategic Plan. Note that only General Obligation Bond issues require voter approval.

Authorization for another $115,595 for the Holly Street Trail project (for those keeping count, this would push expenses for that esplanade in the past 10 years to over $430,000).
Consideration to authorize $214,107 for a solar energy system for City Hall. Find the City Hall costs for electricity for the period of February, 2021 through January, 2024 here. Consideration to amend Chapter 9 of our municipal ordinances to enhance tree protection – (that would get my vote, let’s preserve our tree canopy and help to reduce flooding)
Consideration to amend the Comprehensive Plan regarding multi-family development – remove multi-family by right in CMU or UV-D.
