Bellaire City Council will hold a Public Hearing for the 2024 City Budget on Monday, August 7, 2023. The bottom line for the budget is $60.8 million. Find the PowerPoint presentation here.
Highlights include holding to a nominal tax rate with anticipated increases in revenues from property taxes and sales taxes. Medical and pension costs will increase and a COLA of 4% is proposed. Residents can expect increased rates for water, wastewater, and solid waste services.
Possible Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) include Cypress Ditch, water line and hydrant replacements, and improvements to streets, sidewalks, and buildings. More funds for the wastewater treatment plant, even after the $7.5 million paid to Siemens in 2018.
Other projects are listed for parks and the Library, equipment for Fire and Police Departments, and a lease for a Public Works facility. The City’s bonded debt stands at close to $100 million, and debt service costs will run about $9.6 million this year.
Speakers will be welcome at the podium for the public hearing. Questions or comments can be emailed to the Mayor and Council members via our City Clerk, Tracy Dutton, at email@example.com.
